Boyd Talks About His Recent Commitment

One of the state's biggest sleepers quietly gave a verbal commitment a few weeks back. We're talking about 2009 Dorman OG Malcolm Boyd. The recent Shrine Bowl selection talked about his decision and outlook heading into the all-star bonanza featuring the very best players from South Carolina and North Carolina.

"I committed to Liberty University. I gave them my commitment Friday morning (November 14th) during first period."

Asked what really stood out about Liberty Boyd replied, "Just how tight of a family they are. That and the fan support they have." The Liberty coaching staff was apparently extremely excited about getting a verbal from Boyd as well. "They all went crazy and were real happy about it."

Recently named to replace good friend and teammate Brandon Thomas on the Shrine Bowl squad Boyd talked about his selection. "I feel great about it. To replace my good friend. I'm going to go out there and play hard and give it my all."

Having given his verbal already to Liberty would Boyd reconsider if he has a standout week of practice for the Shrine Bowl?

"I would look into a bigger school so I'm not 100 percent but I feel really good about Liberty."
