The name Jalisa Brown may not ring a bell to most of you throughout the state of South Carolina. But however, this young lady is no stranger to the town of Kingstree. To be frank, she's not a stranger to the hardwood either. After all she's only been the starting point guard for the Kingstree Senior High School Women's Varsity Basketball Team since her freshman year.
Jalisa currently stands around 5-9 and has been handling the floor general duties for the Lady Jaguars quite well so far. Last year as a sophomore, Brown averaged 14 points, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds per contest. We asked the 2010 standout to give us a brief synopsis of what she does well on the court. "Going to the hole is probably one of my biggest strengths," Brown said. "I am also a pretty good passer. I can see the court well also."
While there are a lot of positives things to say about her game on the court, Brown also informed us of the areas where she needs to improve. "My left side is not as strong as it should be," she said. "I really need to work on my left side more, so I can be more of a threat on the court."
During our conversation with Jalisa, it appears as if she has a desire to carry her skills onto the next level. And from the sounds of things, she seems to be in pretty good shape not only from an athletic perspective, but from an academic perspective also. "I'm looking very good academically," Brown informed SCPrepNation.com. "I am an "A" student. Education is very important to me. That definitely comes first…"
Jalisa is in the right position for unlimited opportunities in the very near future. However, it is up to her to make the most of them whenever they present themselves.
Stay tuned for much more on this talented junior PG from out of Kingstree Senior High.
