The 2010 recruiting landscape in the Palmetto State appears set to be another fruitful class and one quarterback prospect is starting to create a great deal of buzz for himself early on. Enter Irmo High QB David Olson. The 2010 signal caller has a number of D1 programs calling on a frequent basis.
David's father, Bruce Olson, gave SCPrepNation.com an update on his progress early on in the recruiting race for the Irmo standout. "David went to several camps after his sophomore year and all the schools that saw him throw liked him. Virginia Tech, Auburn, Clemson, Virginia, Wake Forest, etc."
"The latest news is that he has already been invited to Nike's Elite 11 "Training" Camp (not the combine) but the biggest call was Monday night from a scout in New Jersey who said that they had him listed as the number one prospect in SC for QB in 2010. They also asked him to represent South Carolina in the Scout Badger Sports 7 on 7 team camp in Tampa in March. They are taking two quarterbacks and he was the first choice and accepted."
"He was invited to Florida State's junior day and that visit went very good. He got to spend a lot of time with Jimbo Fisher. Wake Forest on Feb. 8th, Virginia wants him to come up, Missouri has asked him to come out. Tennessee is interested in David also and wants him to come up for junior day and camp. Coach Gran is handling him at this point."
With so many programs entering the race for Olson it will be interesting to see if anyone pulls ahead early on in the race for his commitment. SCPrepNation.com will have many more updates concerning Olson's visits and camp experiences so stay tuned for the very latest right here!
