To no one's surprise, the Pinewood Preparatory Men's Basketball Team is in the process of putting together another impressive run for the state title this year. However, the Pinewood Prep Lady Panthers have been creating a little bit of noise of their own on the hardwood this season. A great deal of the Lady Panther's success comes from the exceptional play of Junior PG Jasmine Simmons. SCPrepNation.com recently had the privilege of speaking with the talented 2010 PG from out of Summerville, SC.
First off, the talented floor general reflected on the Lady Panther's success thus far… "This is probably the best season that Pinewood has ever had," Simmons shared with SCPrepNation.com. "This is definitely a record-breaking year us. We are 22-3 right now."
Jasmine without question plays a very vital role for the Lady Panthers. When this young lady is on the floor, she makes things happen. If the game needs to be taken to the next dimension, she has the ability to take it there. And whenever you need her to show-up for a big game, she merely comes through. And she more than proved it in a very important region match-up earlier this season against Hilton Head Prep.
"That was probably one of my best games this season," Simmons said of the Pinewood Prep/Hilton Head Prep match-up. "They had won the last 4 state championships, and had very long winning streak coming into that game. But we beat them and stopped the streak. I put up 17 points, 8 assists, and 4 steals in that game."
Not only does Jasmine have the ability to create things offensively, but she is without question, a relentless defender on the court. In fact, SCPrepNation.com has been on hand for a number of her games, and has seen her shut down some on the best in the state.
Things have been moving a little slow on the recruiting front for Simmons early on. But that will certainly change once her highlight tape starts circulating around this spring/summer. And you will be able to see it right here on SCPrepNation.com.
Stay tuned for much more on the talented 2010 prospect from out of Pinewood Preparatory School…
