Big East Offer, Added Weight For Corey Miller

With the camp and combine circuit just around the corner many prospects are working feverishly to try and gather as many looks and scholarship offers as possible. One 2010 prospect who already holds multiple offers is Byrnes DE Corey Miller. Miller sat down and talked about his latest offer and just where he is physically right now to prepare himself for the next level.

Having spoken with a number of college coaches concerning Byrnes DE Corey Miller we've heard many of the things they love about the 2010 prospect. Everyone loves his athleticism and speed off the edge. Some however were leery of his lack of weight. Since the offseason Miller has been a man on a mission...with a goal of adding more weight to his frame.

You see last year Miller played normally around 215-220 pounds. This offseason it's been all about packing on beneficial weight. So far things have gone well and Miller talked about his status as of right now.

"Well I'm up to 234 pounds right now," Miller told us. The 2010 prospect was well aware that some coaches had reservations as to whether he'd be able to add substantial weight to be a heavy hitter on the next level coming off the edge. Those doubts are quietly and quickly being erased it appears. "Yeah I'm up to 234 but my speed is still there." Considering the additional weight he's carrying now and still maintaining his tremendous speed we had to ask Miller just how he's been able to do it. "Coach Srock (Byrnes strength and conditioning coach) can make anything happen! I ran the 40 twice to make sure and I ran a 4.6 each time."

So now at 6'4 234 pounds Miller has a burning desire to continue to add to his huge list of offers. One school decided to throw their hat into the Corey Miller sweepstakes today in fact.

"Syracuse offered me today." With the offers still pouring in on a regular basis we asked Miller if there were any schools out there that he really wanted to hear a lot more from currently. "Not really any schools in particular. I'm working hard to improve everyday but if I did have to say there's one school I'd really like to hear a lot more from it would be the Southern California Trojans."

Other new schools that Miller mentioned that have joined the mix lately are UCLA and Michigan. Neither school has extended an offer but the determined Miller is bent on making his mark on the 2010 recruiting class.
