Torian Richardson Profile

The recruiting hotbed that is Byrnes High School continues to grow as another prospect has landed a significant offer. 2010 WR Torian Richardson picked up his first offer today from the Michigan State Spartans.

"I spoke with coach Ted Gill today and they offered me a scholarship verbally on the phone. First he asked me how recruiting was going and asked me where I'd been, Clemson, Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina. Said that they really liked me and that they were going to offer. They were sending the offer in the mail yesterday so it should be coming soon. They want me to come up there and check the campus. I told him that me and my family would try to get up there and check things out." Richardson told us.

Richardson talked at length about some of the schools he's visited recently and what he likes about each below:

Clemson: A lot of my family likes Clemson. I like how Coach Swinney is doing things down there. Just the things they are doing with the facilities and stadium down there. I think they are on the come up.
Tennessee: What they are doing at Tennessee is that they give you a chance to play early there. That's what I like most about them.
Georgia: They are building a new academic center that is going to be top notch. Watching them it didn't look like they had a lot of wide receivers. I've talked to Prince Miller while we were there. I didn't get to talk to A.J. Green but I was wanting to talk to him and maybe talk a little junk to him (laughs).
South Carolina: It was good. I went down there with everybody. Coach Spurrier Jr. said that he liked my film and now he's starting to recruit receivers that he wants and that he wants receivers that catch the ball and can make plays afterwards.

Richardson has been making visits on a regular basis in recent weeks and with his first offer in hand it will be interesting to see what other programs will possibly be the next to offer the speedy wideout from Byrnes. Richardson's journeys will continue over the course of the next month or so he told us.

"I'm supposed to be going to South Carolina to their spring practice this Saturday. On April 11th I'm supposed to be going to the Georgia's spring game. On April 18th I'm going down to Florida to watch their spring game."
