Simmons Talks Recruiting

Burke High School ATH Del'Javon Simmons is currently receiving interest from a vast array of college programs from across the country. Simmons recently spoke with SCPrepNation.com about the latest on the recruiting front. Find out who's been expressing interest in the Low Country star early on.

Del' Javon Simmons Profile

ATH Del'Javon Simmons from out of Burke High School was without question, a proven big-play athlete on the football field last season. Offensively in '08, the gifted playmaker primarily made his living lining up under center for the Bulldogs. And although there were a few that questioned his ability at 5-10, 190 pounds, the athletic QB proved their assumptions to be far away from the truth. Need proof? How about 1,963 yards and 21 touchdowns though the air? What about 1,200 yards rushing on just 123 carries and 16 rushing touchdowns? Get the picture?

The offensive side of the ball wasn't the only place where Simmons made his mark on the playing field. The 2010 standout also made his presence known on the defensive side of the ball for the Bulldogs last season. Last fall, the two-way star proved his play-making abilities defensively by recording 96 tackles from his defensive back position.

Despite Del'Javon's worthy efforts on the gridiron, no one has thrown their hat into the ring for his signature as of yet. However though, that doesn't mean that he's been lacking any attention... "I've been getting a good bit of letters," Simmons told SCPrepNation.com. "I've been getting stuff from Georgia Tech, Duke, Notre Dame, Tennessee, South Carolina, Western Kentucky, North Carolina State, and Auburn. There are several other schools that have been sending me letters, but that's all I can think of right now."

Simmons has been invited to a number of Junior Days and Spring Practices by several of the colleges mentioned above. But do to his commitment to basketball and baseball; he has not been able to make any of those engagements. But he does plan to do a little bit of exploring before too long. "We are working on a few things right now," Simmons said. "We're trying to set up something with Notre Dame and Tennessee. I'd like to go and visit those two schools one day."

Although Simmons primarily lines up under center in high school, many feel that his talents will be used elsewhere on the next level. At any rate, wherever he is placed in college, you can rest assure that he is going to make a fine player for someone's program, hands down...
