As the offseason rolls on so does the good news for 2010 Boiling Springs OT Logan Stewart. As he continues to workout at various combines and hit the camp circuit Stewart's stock continues to rise.
At the Scout.com combine in Charlotte he checked in at a ready 6'4 270 pounds. What is most intriguing is that Stewart carries that weight so well. Scout.com National Combine Director, Scott Kennedy saw Stewart at the broad jump station and after the Boiling Springs big man leaped Kennedy said to him, "Not bad at all big man, what are you 250 pounds?" When Stewart replied, "No sir, I'm 270 pounds," we were all kind of taken aback.
Throughout the day Stewart tested very well and shined during our one on ones. There were a lot of big name prospects in attendance from both Carolinas and many of them already had multiple offers in hand already. Stewart had just picked up an offer from Appalachian State prior to the combine but was one of the top offensive linemen there according to our coaches as he was picked to start in our top group.
Stewart's rise continues as we said earlier and he gave us a ring on Sunday with more good news. "I now have offers from Appalachian State and now Air Force too. I hope it keeps rolling. Appalachian State offered me in person and Air Force called the day after he came and offered me."
Asked which schools are chasing him the hardest right now he replied, "Appalachian State and Air Force obviously with the offers but also Vanderbilt, South Carolina, East Carolina, Buffalo, Wake Forest, and Duke. Wake and Duke came by and they want me at camp."
With the ACC schools wanting him to visit for camp could they be the next to extend offers to Stewart? "I'm not too sure. They didn't say much about it. They haven't seen my film yet. But I think I can do well at their camps so maybe so. South Carolina has said that if camp goes good on June 6th that they potentially could offer me then."
As for favorites at this juncture in his recruitment Stewart shared the following list behind his two offers. "I'd say Vanderbilt, South Carolina, North Carolina State, East Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, and Notre Dame. Notre Dame is supposed to come by this spring as well. They have already talked with my head coach Bruce Clark."
Stewart plans on keeping up a rigorous schedule this offseason. He laid out his planned camp schedule for us. "USC on the 6th, Wake or ECU on the 7th, Duke the 13th, Vandy the 20th, NC State the 24th, and possibly more." Stewart's goal is to showcase his talents for all of the aforementioned programs and is hoping to earn some additional offers.
"Yeah that's the plan. I hope so."
