10 Biggest Offseason Stock Risers
CB Johnavon Fulton-Manning HS
What this young man has done over the course of the past few months is amazing. With big time offers already in hand and more sure to follow Fulton is a true competitor. He has been active on the camp/combine circuit and his competitive nature has won him multiple MVP awards. Fulton currently rates four stars and deservedly so as he has taken on all comers during one on one events and for the most part had his way due to his playmaking ability and unbelievable speed. Already ranks as one of the top corners in the country!
OT Will Ferrell-Blythewood HS
After seeing Ferrell go at it with some of the heavyweights from North and South Carolina at the combine in Charlotte this was a no brainer. Ferrell won a great deal of his one on one battles with all of the top defensive linemen in attendance. Checking in at 6'3 270 pounds Ferrell has good technique and goes about his business thwarting would be defenders. Expect Ferrell to start picking up some offers in the very near future due to his work on the field and 4.05 GPA in the classroom as well. This youngster is highly underrated!
WR Torian Richardson-Byrnes HS
You could say Richardson was a late bloomer but over the past 2 months he's snatched up quite a few offers. An absolute burner at wideout Richardson's ability to hit that extra gear in a hurry has wowed many of the programs he's being recruited by. A definite game changer whether at wideout or as a return man expect things to continue to blow up for Richardson over the next few months.
OT Logan Stewart-Boiling Springs HS
Here's another big monster on the offensive line who is starting to find his way on the camp and combine circuit. At 6'4 270 pounds Stewart carries his weight extremely well and uses solid technique matched with an aggressive attitude to put in work as a big nasty. Has 2 offers in hand already and it wouldn't surprise us if the likes of Vanderbilt, Stanford, and other top academic programs were next to offer. Carries a 4.0+ GPA in the classroom and continues to improve on the field each time we see him. Very strong upside!
OG Kalon Davis-Chester HS
We stick with the big nasties up front as Kalon Davis wowed us last year and picked up a handful of offers late. While he hasn't been seen much on the offseason circuit his size and talents remain enormous in our eyes. We know if he did make it out that his list would be larger than it is currently.
S/QB Bashaud Breeland-Allendale-Fairfax HS
In terms of offers alone nobody has blown up the way this young man has. Breeland projects as a safety on the next level but he's such an outstanding athlete that we think he'd excel at any skill position you line him up at. Blessed with great length and speed he's got the potential in our eyes to be a 4-star prospect on down the road once our regional managers start to assess more star rankings. What makes Breeland so interesting is that he's so ultra athletic but at the same time is still picking up nuances of the game that will solidify him as a top 10 player once we release our in-state rankings in the next week. Expect more offers to pour in for Breeland once his film circulates some more.
CB/RB Jerrell Priester-Allendale-Fairfax HS
Priester like his teammate Breeland have emerged in a major way since the end of the season. Has top flight speed which gives him the chance to take it to the endzone every time he touches it. Size projects him as a cornerback possibly on the next level but either way his talents are immense. More reps this season as a corner would help his stock but the name of his game right now is blazing track speed. Has recorded times of 10.2 seconds (handheld) and 10.6 (electronic) in the 100 meters. Notre Dame is the first major to offer him but expect more to join suit as his film is beginning to circulate.
MLB Andre Whitmire-Spartanburg HS
Whitmire does it all as a middle linebacker. Has a real nose for the ball and knack for making plays. Holds some strong offers currently and is looking to add more as he continues to work on improving. Whitmire has been on the road traveling quite a bit and it should land him additional offers due to his diligence. Should he increase his speed this offseason as he plans to it wouldn't surprise us to see him land double digit offers in a hurry.
WR Jazz King-Byrnes HS
If there was a "I told you so..." player we've been harping about the past year it's been Jazz King. Things have started to heat back up for the Byrnes wideout and deservedly so. Here's another youngster who has traveled the road like crazy the past few months to take visits and compete in various camps and combines. One thing remains the same at each stop, he continues to be one of the top offensive prospects wherever he works out. Speed allows him to show his knack for always getting behind defenders on deep balls over the top to make big plays. This offseason he's bent on improving his route running to become a better all-around receiver. King also shines in the classroom with a GPA upwards of 3.6. His junior film was just sent out late last month so the interest and offers should start to kick up a notch or two very soon.
OLB Justin Parker-Beaufort HS
Coming on like gangbusters has been Beaufort's Justin Parker. A college-ready frame and tremendous playmaking ability has college coaches salivating at the chance of getting a commit from Parker. At 6'2 225 pounds Parker brings a wallop when he comes to the party from his OLB position. What we love about the youngster is that he rarely takes bad angles or makes mistakes when wrapping up on his tackles. Has a nose for the ball and causes plenty of turnovers which just can't be taught. Holds some significant offers already from the ACC and SEC. Expect more noise from Parker if he continues to improve and with that added scholarship offers. Parker will make a huge jump in our soon to be released 2010 in-state player rankings.
We resisted the urge to add Bamberg-Erhardt High duo DE/OL A.J. Cann and DE/TE Justin Henderson. These two youngsters went out and have grabbed double digit offers since the end of the season. They would be at the top of the list and Henderson has already committed to Kentucky. Cann remains one of the top prospects in the state and country. Stay tuned for more updates with both young men as they prepare to embark on their senior season.
