The news continues to come in for 2010 Boiling Springs OL Logan Stewart. The standout prospect just landed an offer from SEC country and SCPrepNation.com is the first to break the news to you.
The South Carolina Gamecocks pulled the trigger and offered Logan a scholarship earlier today. Stewart told us exactly how things went down.
"Coach Lawing called my head coach Bruce Clark and told him to tell me to give him a call. So I called him back and he said he wanted to let me know that they were going to offer me a full scholarship based on what they saw of me at camp and after reviewing my game film from last year. I also spoke to Coach Wolford and he said he was excited and wanted me to come back down soon to check out the place some more."
We knew Stewart had an opportunity to show well at the USC camp and he talked about what he felt has helped him during his development since the last year. "The thing that has helped is that I'm aggressive. I also measured a lot bigger than I did the last time I was down there. I came in at 6'4 1/2 276 pounds now. The thing is that I don't feel like I'm that though."
Still absorbing the news of his latest offer we asked Stewart what his feelings were currently now. "It feels good to know that an SEC school is on me. Ever since I was in little league I've been talking about playing college football at one of the big schools. It feels good man. My head coach Bruce Clark has taught me a lot about offensive line play. He's helped me to learn how to be an aggressive and mean lineman. Without him and assistant coach Justin Clark my numbers wouldn't be where they are right now. Coach Justin Clark helps a lot with my weight room numbers and nutrition as well."
What's on the horizon now for Stewart you ask? "I may be headed to Duke this weekend. I'm pretty positive. It's not set in stone yet though. I'm about to meet with my coach about that right now."
Looking further ahead Stewart says he'll visit Vanderbilt. "The Vanderbilt visit is guaranteed. I'll be there on the 19th and camp on the 20th. Hopefully I will have a good camp there too."
"I'm pretty positive that I'm going to NC State for their camp. Wake Forest on July 11th. I was supposed to go on the 6th but it didn't work out the way I needed it to."
So now with South Carolina on board along with offers from Air Force, Appalachian State, East Carolina, and Western Carolina Stewart has his hands full as it appears his recruitment is starting to elevate to the next level along with his play in the trenches.
