7on7 Highlights: Dorman vs Independence

Dorman High School was looking to repeat as champions of this year's Carolina Panthers 7 on 7 tournament. Powered by 2011 WR Charon Peake (pictured) the Cavaliers made it to the playoffs but found themselves overmatched by Independence High (NC) who would go on to become this year's tournament champions. Inside SCPrepNationTV brings you some highlights from the Dorman-Indy matchup.

The Carolina Panthers hosted their 7on7 Tournament on Saturday at the practice fields of Panthers Stadium in Charlotte. Three teams from South Carolina participated and your friends at SCPrepNation.com and Scout.com were there to bring you highlights from the event.

In this highlight reel you'll see last year's Panthers 7on7 champions, the Dorman Cavaliers, as they took on Independence High School (NC) who would go on to win this year's event. Dorman features 2011 WR Charon Peake, 2010 LBs Kendrick Smith and Ryan Pruitt, and 2010 WR/QB Johnny Foster. Peake went on to showcase why he may be one of the nation's very best a wideout in the 2011 class. The 6'3 prospect made plays all day for the Cavaliers as they looked sharp for most of the day. Smith and Pruitt played well and showed us why a number of mid-majors and regional programs are showing them both some deserved attention. Foster caught our eyes once again at wide receiver but also did pretty well when he came in to spell the Cavaliers at quarterback.

Independence features 2010 QB Anthony Carrothers, 2010 CB Victor Hampton (Florida commit), and 2010 WR Kierre Brown. Carrothers threw the ball extremely well all day and powered his team to the eventual victory in the championship game over West Rowan (NC). Hampton went about his business as usual baiting quarterbacks before swooping in and picking off passes or making big time deflections. Brown was somewhat of an unknown commodity coming in but he impressed us with his speed and ability to make plays at wideout. At one point Brown suffered from some cramping and still managed to help Independence by scoring a big touchdown in pool play to seal a victory for the Charlotte powerhouse.
