Thursday saw the Clemson Tigers host yet another 2011 in-state star prospect in WR Hakeem Flowers. The Wade Hampton standout has been all the rage over the course of the past month. Grabbing offers from the likes of Florida State, Maryland, and Auburn and heavy interest from other heavyweights throughout the region Flowers made the ride to Clemson earlier today.
"The trip was pretty good. It was pretty nice to see what they had. While I was there I was able to see the locker room, the weight room, the training room, where the wide receivers meet for meetings, and where the entire team meets."
During his visit with the Tigers Flowers said he was escorted by coaches Jeff Scott and Andre Powell.
Prior to his visit to Clemson today though Flowers didn't have the Tigers on his list of favorites. Did the ride down I-85 to Tigertown change that sentiment for Flowers?
"Yes sir today's visit changes things. Their facilities are really nice, it was much better than what I've heard from what other people have said they are. They told me that they were gonna evaluate me during the season and that when September 1st comes that they would probably go ahead and make an offer then."
Switching gears to his most recent trip before today's visit to Clemson, we asked Flowers about his visit to Gainesville to check out the Florida Gators.
"It was very nice, they had a bunch of very good athletes down there. I think I did pretty good down there actually. While I was there the thing that stood out the most to me was their campus. It really gave me the feel of a real college campus or atmosphere."
Another program that has eagerly been wanting Flowers to visit their campus is Virginia Tech. The Hokies probably won't get a visit before Hakeem's junior season gets underway but they may not have to wait too long.
"That's it pretty much as far as I know for visits until the season starts. We might go to Virginia Tech though and check out one or two of their games."
Flowers is eagerly looking ahead to the start of his junior season. With so much attention on him now he's ready to fill the stat sheets and help power his Wade Hampton squad to a much improved record this season.
"I think we should be pretty good this year. I think I might be able to get a lot of touches. Me and my quarterback talk a lot and we have a real good chemistry with one another."
Opposing coaches will probably grow tired of seeing Flowers as he says he'll more than likely play both ways the entire game for his Generals. At wideout on offense and safety on defense.
SCPrepNation.com will have more updates regarding Hakeem Flowers' recruitment as we anticipate his mailbox to be full of offers once September 1st comes. We'll have exclusive video highlights of Flowers in action during his first few games of his junior season so stay tuned right here with SCPrepNation.com and the Scout.com team.
