Palmettto Touchdown Club Honors Lowcountry Players

A big night for lowcountry players and coaches as the Palmetto Touchdown Club honors the best of the best with Howard, Jones, Sinkler and Kinlaw taking the top honors.

For the 32nd straight year the Palmetto Touchdown Club held it's annual jamboree last night to recognize the lowcountry's best football players and coaches. Featured speaker for the event was Georgia Bulldog head coach Mark Richt.

Taking top honors as the Coach of the Year was Wando's Bob Hayes. In just his 3rd year at the helm, Coach Hayes  brought the Warriors from an 2-9 season in 2000 to playing for the region title against his former boss Ray Stackley and the Stratford Knights in 2002.  No doubt the Wando program will continue to improve under his leadership.

Offensive Back of the Year was Stratfords Rodney Kinlaw. Rodney has narrowed his choice of schools down to either Virginia Tech or Penn St. He is hosting Coach Beamer tonight and Coach Paterno tommorrow for in home visits before making his decision over the weekend.

Offensive Lineman of the Year was James Islands Bryan Jones. Bryan was also named the Post and Courier Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Defensive Back of the Year was Hanahans Marcus Howard. Marcus has already committed to play for the Georgia Bulldogs.
