If you didn't pay close attention last Friday night as Wade Hampton faced off with rivals Eastside you might have missed one of the most notable spectators in attendance. There were a number of players there who are deserving of being watched by college coaches like Eastside 2010 QB Drake Thomason who is headed to South Carolina on a baseball scholarship, Wade Hampton underclassman RB Blake Hayes who has amassed over 1100+ yards rushing, and last but certainly not least 2011 Wade Hampton WR Hakeem Flowers.
The latter was the primary reason that the Alabama Crimson Tide sent assistant coach Burton Burns to Greenville. Flowers has since the beginning of his explosion in the recruiting world had Alabama as one of his favorites. The young stud wide receiver obviously was excited to learn that the SEC power was there to check him out in person.
After speaking with a few ACC and SEC coaches we learned that some questioned Flowers' size initially but after many were able to see him firsthand those doubts were erased. In fact, we have learned that Flowers is closer to 6'4 now and we will find out after he makes another trip to his physician for the exact measurement.
We'll have more updates after Flowers has more contact with the Crimson Tide. That Flowers told us will be happening this week so stay tuned to SCPrepNation.com for the very latest as Alabama has made it clear that they indeed are highly interested in the 2011 standout from Wade Hampton High.
