Last season it was Byrnes CB Riyahd Richardson that defied the odds and started to pull in some late offers despite only standing 5'8 as a cornerback. This year 2010 CB Tyrell Pearson appears that he wants to make a late push as this year's most underrated corner at 5'8.
In years past the Red Raiders have been known for their high powered offenses. New head coach Phil Madgic and staff have kept the high octane offense in place but have also made defense a point of emphasis as well. Tyrell Pearson is their top cornerback prospect and coming in at 5'8 160 pounds he's proven that it's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog.
Considering that Pearson has 10 interceptions so far this season and his team is already into the 2nd round of the AAA playoffs it's hard to overlook his talents as one of the state's top coverage cornerbacks. So far this season Pearson has 38 tackles, 10 interceptions, 1 sack, 2 fumbles caused, 2 fumble recoveries, 2 defensive touchdowns, and 1 blocked kick.
Below you can check out partial senior season highlights of Pearson in action making some tremendous plays for Madgic's Red Raider defense.
