UP NEXT: 2011 Hardeeville RB Jarrell Knighton

This 2011 running back prospect quietly rushed for over 1000 yards on last season. But obviously it wasn't quiet enough. Simply because a host of DI programs have been sending a ton of letters to his school and residence…

2011 running back prospect, Jarrell Knighton, made a huge statement in '07 as a freshman for the Hardeeville Hurricanes, rushing for 1256 yards and 11 touchdowns. After showing much promise on the playing field as a Frosh, Knighton had to miss the entire 2008 season due to a torn ACL. But on last fall, the 5-10, 205 pound back made his way back to the gridiron, and eclipsed the 1000-yard rushing barrier once again; 1085 yards to be exact.

Knighton played quite a significant role for the Hurricanes in '09, who reach post-season play for the first time since the school opened its doors back in 2007. "Our season went pretty good last year," Knighton said. "We made it to the play-offs last year for the first time in school history. But we lost in the first-round to Cross by a touchdown."

The big back is expecting for his team to build on last year's momentum, and take things a notch higher this fall. "I'd like for our team to make it further into the play-offs this season," Knighton said. "Really, I'd like for us to win a state championship."

Outside of Knighton's desire to help his team bring back a state title to Hardeeville, SC, there is one personal goal that he'd like to accomplish before his high school graduation. And that goal is to land as many scholarship offers as he can.

Although Knighton has yet to receive his first scholarship offer, he is not lacking any attention on the recruiting front whatsoever. The 2011 sleeper informed SCPrepNation.com that he's been receiving letters of interest from schools like Georgia Tech, Clemson, South Carolina, and Georgia, only to name a few.

"I received an invitation to South Carolina for Junior Day, but I wasn't able to make it there," Knighton shared with SCPrepNation.com. "I also received an invitation to Georgia's Junior Day. But I was unable to attend, because I had a basketball game."

Due to schedule conflicts, Jarrell was unable to attend the events that were hosted by the two SEC programs mention above. But according to his coach, the Palmetto State star did get to make it out to a few events that were hosted by a couple of ACC programs last fall. According to Hardeeville Head Football Coach, Blake Raley, Knighton has been on campus visits to Clemson and Georgia Tech.

As of right now, Knighton does not have any immediate plans locked in stone. But he has been thinking long and hard about where he'd like to camp this summer. "I'm definitely going to camp with Clemson this summer," Knighton said without hesitation. I'm not sure who else I'm going to camp with right now. But I do plan to camp with a few other teams this summer."

SCPrepNation.com will keep you posted on the very latest regarding this talented prospect from out of Hardeeville, SC, so stay tuned for much more.

Note: Jarrell is currently holding down a 3.5 GPA inside the classroom.
