RB Brandon Wilds Expecting More Offers

Two schools are showering 2011 RB Brandon Wilds with the most love lately but he also feels like some more offers may soon be on their way. Come inside with SCPrepNation.com to find out the very latest regarding Wilds' recruitment. Wilds talks about his latest visits, immediate plans, and thoughts looking ahead.

This coming year 2011 Blythewood High RB Brandon Wilds will take the field for the last season with his high school team. As one of the state's top prospects regardless of position Wilds has expectations for his team during his senior season. He talked about those goals and more in a recent interview with SCPrepNation.com.

"Well our goal as a team would be to still be playing in December," Wilds said.

Asked to switch gears and forecast his goals or outlook for his senior season from a personal standpoint the Blythewood standout didn't give a response that many other top prospects have given over the years.

"From a personal standpoint I would like to be a leader on and off the field and be someone my teammates can look up to."

In a day and age where the spotlight shines brightly on top prospects all over the country through media outlets Wilds would rather be respected for being an all around leader rather just a top flight jock.

A number of colleges are still taking a closer look at Wilds as he already holds offers from East Carolina, Illinois, Maryland, and South Carolina. There are still a host of other suitors who are heavily involved currently and he shared with us a few that stick out in his mind currently and what schools may be adding to his list of offers.

"The schools that are recruiting me the hardest right now would be South Carolina and Illinois. I feel like Oregon, Kentucky, and Georgia Tech probably could be close to offering me soon."

Wilds has visited a couple of schools for camp this offseason and he talked about each.

"I attended camp this summer at Georgia Tech and Kentucky."

"One thing that stood out the most at Georgia Tech's camp was that everybody is familiar with each other and the team is very close to one another. Kentucky was a nice school too. I had a chance to meet with all of the coaches and they really took notice of my talent."

Wilds has previously stated that he's keen on the idea of getting a chance to compete for early playing time and he talked more about those thoughts.

"Well everyone should want to play early, I know I do, but I know I still have a lot to do and learn. Other factors that I take notice when I'm looking at colleges is the connection with the coaches because I want a coach that can teach me and make me a better person in life."

Wilds at 6'1 220 pounds is a power back and that makes him a highly intriguing prospect. He gave us this synopsis as to what he feels makes him such a good running back prospect at this point.

"My strengths at running back would be my ability to have break away speed on the sideline, ability to catch, to make defenders miss, and of course my power being a power back."

At one point in time Wilds was thinking about making a decision prior to his senior season as his plans are to graduate early in December. With more schools continuing to show interest those plans appear to be changing for Wilds.

"I have not really narrowed any list of top schools down because I still want to make a few more visits before I make that decision. Some of the visits that I want to take in the near future would be to Ole Miss, Oregon, and Illinois."

Stay tuned to SCPrepNation.com and the Scout.com team for more updates on Brandon Wilds as he continues to add offers heading towards his senior season.

Wilds informed us that he has improved his maxes on the bench press (320 pounds) and squat (500 pounds) in the weight room.
