DE Mario Sanders Has Monster Opening Game

The Greer Yellow Jackets got off to a strong start Friday night in a 41-14 victory over Seneca. Senior DE Mario Sanders helped to set the tone for the defense while the offense is starting to find its stride early on.

Mario Sanders Profile

The Greer Yellow Jackets got out of the gates early with an impressive 41-14 victory over Seneca on Friday night. The Greer offense was said to be taking a new direction and it appears that is indeed the case for coach Will Young's team.

The defense was to be one of the big strengths for the squad and they didn't disappoint either led by 2011 Duke verbal commit Mario Sanders. Sanders committed early and on Friday he made the Blue Devils staff grin ear to ear as he had a breakout performance to start his senior season.

Playing at end Sanders dropped back into coverage often against the Bobcats and made them pay dearly. One on play Sanders tipped the ball to himself and made an interception. He would also grab another interception one handed and took it to the house 47 yards for a touchdown.

The Yellow Jacket offense was very efficient under the guidance of quarterback Reese Hannon who was 16-24 for 184 yards with 2 touchdowns. Hannon also showed good mobility with 10 carries for 90 yards on the night.

2011 RB prospect Dakari Sitton also had a big influence on the game Friday with 16 carries for 128 yards and a touchdown.

Sanders and the Greer Yellow Jackets will next take on Big 16 power Rock Hill on Friday night.
