Some have questioned why Hakeem Flowers holds over 40+ scholarship offers. The naysayers have pointed at his statistics over the past two seasons saying his numbers weren't astronomical. Those in the know realize that the past two seasons Wade Hampton has run out of the wing-T offense which has a heavy emphasis on the run. Well Wade Hampton head coach Kent Haltiwanger said he was going to give the Generals a new look this season and it appears that is the case.
Operating out of the spread offense the Generals were involved in a offensive shootout on Friday night against Blue Ridge High. Flowers and his teammates along with the Tigers from Blue Ridge put up over 110 combined points on the scoreboard as Wade Hampton emerged with a 56-55 win in overtime.
It was a good showing for Flowers in that he was able to display his big play abilities for all to see. Especially a few of the schools that haven't already extended offers who stated they wanted to see how well he played during the first few games of his senior season.
"I had 6 catches for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. I had a few carries but I'm not sure what those numbers were." Flowers told SCPrepNation.com.
All things considered the numbers he posted on Friday will help clear things up for those naysayers. What's scary is that Flowers only touched the ball 6 times in the win. Expect those touches to increase as the Generals lost 2012 standout RB Blake Hayes to a shoulder injury.
It's uncertain how long Hayes will be out of action but Flowers is confident that he and the rest of his teammates will be able to carry the load moving forward.
Hakeems says he hasn't dwindled his list of favorites down to a Top 10 yet but that could came after a few more games and some more research into all of the schools who are recruiting him currently.
