Meanwhile, No. 9 Maryville (Maryville, Tenn.) beat Melrose (Memphis, Tenn.), 23-10, in the Class 4A state title game. Sophomore receiver Stephen Shiver threw two touchdown passes and senior running back Ryan Tallant, who was named the game's offensive MVP, ran for 139 yards and a touchdown. The win, which was the Rebels' 30th consecutive victory, gave Maryville a Division 1-record ninth football state title.

The De La Salle defense held the powerful San Leandro offense to only 164 yards and 11 first downs. Meanwhile, No. 9 Kahuku (Kahuku, Hawaii) won its fourth state title in the past six years by defeating Punahou (Honolulu, Hawaii), 28-21, in the Division I title game. Running back Malosi Te'o ran for 262 yards and a touchdown.
