Cates, Cole give commitments

Livingston Academy's Wilson Cates is making plans for Princeton, while Antioch's Trey Cole is pledging to play football at Oklahoma State. Cates, who quarterbacked the Wildcats to the Class 3A state title last month, was accepted by the Ivy League school this week and offered his commitment. The Tigers want Cates in their defensive backfield.

Cole will join Antioch tailback Preston Brown in signing with Oklahoma State on Feb. 1, National Signing Day. Cole said the Cowboys offered him two weeks ago. The 6-foot-1, 290-pound defensive tackle prospect may be required to take the junior college route to Stillwater.

"They found about me through Preston," Cole said. "He went up there on a visit and was showing them game film that had me in there. They were like, ‘Who is that No. 9 kid?'
