Patriots remain in first-place tie

Oakland didn't make a field goal the entire third quarter — and increased its lead. The second meeting of the season between the city's oldest rivals, Riverdale and Oakland, was a battle of defenses.

Oakland (19-4, 12-1) won the battle and had enough offense to get a 58-48 District 7-AAA victory over Riverdale (13-13, 4-9) at the OHS Gymnasium Tuesday.

In spite of going without a basket, Oakland hit 8-of-8 free throws and outscored the Warriors 8-7 in the period.

In the fourth quarter, Oakland junior Chaisson Allen hit a pair of 3-pointers to give the first-place Patriots needed breathing room.
