Lowe finds new high

At 3:00pm today, Matt Lowe was introduced to players and staff as the new head football coach at Powell High School, near Knoxville.

Lowe has been serving as the offensive coordinator for the Panthers. He is a graduate of Powell High School, so there's no doubt Lowe will have Powell first in his heart and mind.

Lowe is known for his fiery approach to the game, often running up and down the sidelines to high five or chest bump players as they come off the field. With his signature visor flipped around backwards, he's not hard to pick out. He will no doubt ratchet up the intensity of the Panther program.

Lowe replaces long time coach Larry Stephens, who retired after the 2005 campaign to spend more time with his family. Stephens leaves the program fully stocked and ready to make a charge at Region 3 AAAA again.

Lowe will need to find a quarterback to replace sure handed and elusive QB Cody Watts, who graduates this May. Lowe will also want to find a replacement for 6'5" target Lee Smith…a power both on offense and defense. Smith graduates this May as well and has committed to the University of Tennessee.
