Robinson Gets Offer Number Eight

Gene Robinson, 5-10, 185-pound defensive back from Memphis-Whitehaven, (Tenn.) picked up his eighth offer today. Find out who offered Robinson and who is close to giving him offer number nine.

Gene Robinson reported, "North Carolina just offered." Robinson responded of having a leader by saying, "No sir."

He said of North Carolina, "I like the defensive back coach he was in the NFL. He coached Samari Rolle and Adam "Pacman" Jones. He told his coach he would compare me to someone like Free Smoot." As far as getting on campus, "Yes I should be able to."

Robinson said of his summer plans, "I plan on getting to Alabama, North Carolina, and I've already visited Vanderbilt. I've also visited Ole Miss and we are going to a seven on seven camp."

Another SEC school that is beginning to come into the picture is Louisiana State University. He said, "I'm going to Louisiana State University because the coach wanted me to come down for a one day camp. The defensive back coach wants to see me in person." Of an offer he said, "Yes sir they sound like they are close to offering."

He went on to talk about a few other schools recruiting him, "Texas Tech just got in and they said they are going to run the film through the defensive coordinator and defensive back coach and they should offer because they loved the film."

When Robinson spoke of being the number six prospect in the top 40 he said, "I'm elated. I guess there are five other guys I've got to strive to be better than."

One of those five other guys is number one prospect, Marlon Brown. Robinson said of Brown, "Yes sir, we are good friends." He added, "He pretty much has all of the offers that I have."

When asked if they may decide on the same school Robinson explained, "We'll see, but we were talking about it, but we'll see. We're going to try to get together this summer and do some one on ones."
