Daniel Hood Tours Two Florida Schools

Daniel Hood had a busy weekend touring the sunshine state. Find out what Hood had to say about his weekend visits to Florida and Florida State.

Daniel Hood, 6-5, 260 pound tight end prospect from Knoxville-Catholic (Tenn.) said, "I went to Florida and Florida State. I was pretty impressed with the facilities at both and I met with some coaches. I was impressed with all of them and I got to meet Bobby Bowden."

Hood, a three star prospect, explained of Florida, "We got to see the weight room and it was state of the art. The swamp was a blast to be able to complete. Coach Urban Meyer is a really intense and upbeat coach. He gets his players motivated and so does Coach Addazio, the offensive line coach. He loves the game and he's a good coach to so it was good to learn from that camp."

As far as an offer for Hood he said, "They've already got three commitments on the offensive line, so they may not need anymore. My main purpose was to go in there and compete. If an offer comes that would be great, but if not I accomplished my main goal down there."

The combination of size and speed may lead to Hood being projected as an offensive tackle at the next level. He said of Florida State, "Florida State was shocking. It's got one of the best stadiums I've seen. Their weight room is really nice and their staff is filled with good people too. I had a good time up there."

The process is slowly becoming a little secondary for Hood. He explained of narrowing his list and making plans for visits, "Honestly I haven't really sat down to think about it yet. We have practice starting here soon and that's really going to be my main focus. I'm going to sit down with some of my coaches and start to determine when, where, and who will be my official visits."

The commitment of Will Jackson, 6-4, 280 pound offensive guard from Knoxville-Farragut to Georgia Tech over the weekend may begin to play a role for Hood. After his commitment Jackson reported he would try to talk to Hood about becoming a Yellow Jacket. Hood said of Georgia Tech, "I talked with their offensive line coach. They are running the same type of offense we run at Catholic. I'm interested in this season and how they do this year. I have not had a chance to see what the facilities are like and what the education would be like."
