Marlon Brown reported his top six schools as, "USC, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, and LSU." He went on to stress that they are in no particular order and they all are equal right now. He added, "I plan on trying to visit every single one this season."
Each school was selected from a huge list of potential schools that grew as high as 32 offers. Brown had the list originally trimmed to a top 17 early in the summer, but decided to move from that list into a smaller field. One big factor for each school making it on the list was the coaching staff. Brown said of each school "I liked the coaches and they were really good at what they do and that made a difference."
Fans shouldn't expect a decision before signing day as Brown tours the nation this fall and winter to take in all the schools. He has said in the past that more than likely his decision will come down to signing day. On his visits he spoke about the factors that will make a difference at each school. He said, "The team chemistry will be big."
Brown is the most sought after recruit in the state for football, but is also getting some looks on the court for basketball. Another contributing factor for the six schools he chose was their flexibility to allow him to continue his hoops career. He explained, "Yes sir, they all allow the option to play basketball." He added, as far as the other schools not recruiting him or being as flexible with basketball he said, "Yes sir it was a factor."
All eyes will be on Memphis in about two weeks as Brown and the Harding Academy Lions lineup against St. Benedict's in the season's first game. Brown said, "Things are real good right now. We will see how good we can be."
