Gene Robinson reported, "Kentucky is the latest school to offer me. I like the SEC and we have a defensive back already there that I started with my freshmen year, his name is Daryl Faulkner. I also like the education at Kentucky."
He went on to say about getting on campus to check things out, "I have not had a chance to visit and I am not sure yet if I will, but most likely." He went on to add, "Right now Kentucky sounds good to me too. I like the fact it's in the SEC as well."
Robinson has been gaining more and more attention as the recruiting season is about to hit full steam. He explained, "I am getting the most interest from North Carolina, Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss." Robinson has over a dozen offers at the moment and is still getting new interest from schools like Arkansas and Notre Dame. He said of other potential offers, "Notre Dame still hasn't offered, so I'm not sure where that is going. Tennessee called my coach and told me to send a new film to them. Arkansas but I'm not sure where I am with them though."
One school that his remained on top for Robinson throughout most of the process is Alabama. He commented, "I am still high on Alabama. I like Alabama because the school and Coach Saban."
Another school making a strong push for Robinson is North Carolina. He said, "I like the defensive back coach at North Carolina." A few other schools that were making a push for Robinson were Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. He said of those schools, "I like Ole Miss the same as Vanderbilt because the educational opportunity."
Robinson does not plan to have his decision made by the end of the season. In fact when asked if he would make a decision before his senior season ended he said, "I doubt it." He added of his offers, "The schools that are recruiting me I like specific things about each one and my family and I are going to sit down and talk about them."
The Memphis-Whitehaven Tigers will push in 2008 to be not only one of the top teams in West Tennessee, but in the entire state in 5A. Robinson commented on the season, "We have the jamboree this Friday and on the 23rd we have a game against Mitchell. We have a pretty good chance of our defense being the number one defense in the state with guys like me, Derrick Webb, and Patrick Christian."
