Tenn. RB Updates His Recruiting

David Jones, 6-0, 205 pound running back from South Pittsburg (Tenn.) is a name to watch for in 2008. Find out the latest with his recruiting and what he likes about the schools showing him the most interest.

David Jones reported, "I am still at five offers." Those five offers are from Middle Tennessee, Memphis, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and South Alabama. He went on to say, "Alabama and Auburn are looking at me real hard."

One school that has really shown some interest in Jones is Tennessee. He explained, "I really like Tennessee and they are recruiting me. They said they wanted to watch some of my senior year and see how I do."

As far as trying to get on campus this season Jones wants to try to take in a few games throughout the SEC if possible. He commented, "I will try to go to a Tennessee game, an Alabama game, an Auburn game and a Vanderbilt game if possible."

Commodore fans should feel good about their position with Jones at this point. He said, "I still like Vanderbilt a lot and I would not mind playing there. They are recruiting me pretty heavily."

Jones reported, "I would say the schools recruiting me the hardest are Vanderbilt, Auburn, Middle Tennessee State, Tennessee, and Alabama." He added that North Carolina is a new school beginning to show some interest, "I have learned a little bit about North Carolina since they have started recruiting me. I would like to learn more."

The expectations for 2008 are running pretty high for the defending state champion South Pittsburg Pirates, but don't expect Jones to shy away from the challenge of defending their title. He said, "I think we are going to be pretty good this year. Once we get everybody on the same page. I think we have a chance of defending the title." Jones finished his junior season with 1349 rushing yards, 18 touchdowns as the number two running back, so you can only imagine what kind of season 2008 can be for him.
