Fearless Friday Prediction Part I

This week is filled with some big games across the state. As if the match ups and rivalries themselves are not enough many of the big games are region games with playoff implications.

Game # 1: Knoxville-Austin East vs. Knoxville- Catholic

This game should prove to be one of the best across the entire state. After a 2007 playoff loss to Knoxville-Austin East the Irish of Knoxville-Catholic look for a little payback. Knoxville-Catholic three star tight end Daniel Hood said of the game, "I'm expecting us to play really well. It's a region game for us and we want to start out well in the region. Plus they are the team that put us out of the playoffs last year. I'm excited about the game right now."

The Irish of Knoxville-Catholic have been rolling in their first two games, but have made some crucial mistakes including six fumbles against Morristown-West in week zero. Coach Pemberton's Irish will need to play mistake free against a very quick and athletic Knoxville-Austin East. The Roadrunners look to get their first win of the season after their 19-6 loss to Knoxville-Webb.

PrepTennessee.com Prediction:

Look for the Irish to keep on rolling this week and begin to show their dominance of region two in class 3A. Led by Hood and running back Jordan Howanitz, who has rushed for close to 300 yards in two games, the Irish should roll. Knoxville-Catholic 35 Knoxville Austin East 12

Game # 2: Chattanooga-McCallie vs. Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy

The game is a big time match up in the division two playoff picture. This game will serve as a measuring stick for Chattanooga-McCallie and a little bit of redemption for Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy. After a shocking upset loss last week to Brentwood-Ravenwood the Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy Eagles look to regroup.

Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy led by some of the top players in the southeast including players like defensive end Thad McHaney and defensive tackle Barry Dabney hope to get things going early on defense. The Eagles will have to sustain drives and move the football in order to get back on track. Look for strong leadership from Alex Bullard to help his team regain their focus and make their first region game a big game.

The Blue Tornadoes from Chattanooga-McCallie hope to make their trip to Brentwood successful with a big region win. For Chattanooga-McCallie this is a critical game for their success in the region and hopes of making the playoffs in 2008. The defense led by safety and Vanderbilt commitment Jay Fullam has to show improvement this week after a high scoring week one. Their ability to throw the ball and mix it up offensively will give them the best opportunity to hang late in the ball game against the Eagles.

PrepTennessee.com Prediction:

The week one upset should have sent shockwaves through the Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy locker room. A team loaded with talent and potential should bounce back and expect that bounce back this week. The Blue Tornado led by safety Fullam hope to put together a complete game to pull off the huge road win. Brentwood Academy 24 McCallie 14

Game # 3: Memphis-White Station vs. Memphis-Whitehaven

The Spartans from Memphis-White Station hope to bounce back after a week zero loss. The Spartans will have to put together a great game plan on offense as they will take on one of the best defenses in the state in Memphis-Whitehaven.

The Tigers of Memphis-Whitehaven have started off 2008 the right way. The Tigers have given up an average of seven points per game and have seen solid defensive play in their two early season wins. Lead defensively by defensive back, Gene Robinson, 5-11, 180 pounds and linebacker Derrick Webb, 6-0, 225 pounds. The Tigers have also seen some promising play from tailback Tony Jefferson and junior quarterback Fred Flenorl.

PrepTennessee.com Prediction:

White Station hopes to use this game as a chance to bounce back and regroup from their week zero loss. Don't expect the Spartans to have an easy time against Coach Rodney Saulsberry's Tigers. Memphis-Whitehaven 28 Memphis- White Station 7
