Is this the year Reagan finally breaks through and wins that elusive Region IV crown? The Rattlers made a run to the Quarter-Finals last year before falling to Judson, they’ve got back plenty of offensive firepower the big questions will be on defense, in addition to will Reagan be Division I or Division II? After Reagan the waters are muddied for sure as the gap between two and five is quite small. Based on returning experience alone the edge goes to Johnson who returns ten offensive starters from a playoff team, the Jaguars were a surprise winner of Region IV two years ago and there some seniors who contributed on that semi-final squad. MacArthur took a big leap forward in 2014 going from perennial cellar dweller to playoff team, the Brahmas bring back enough experience to edge out Churchill for third. Churchill was outstanding in the regular season posting an impressive 8-2 mark, but the Chargers fell to Judson in a close bi-district game. Churchill will be physical on defense, but do they have the speed to be an elite defense and are there enough returning playmakers to fill voids left by graduation. Madison had a rough debut under new HC Mark Smith, the Mavericks always a playoff force in San Antonio stumbled to a 4-6 mark a year ago. They only bring back six total starters but a second year in the system should help MHS overcome the lack of varsity time. Although picked sixth, Lee has the offensive firepower to sneak up on someone if they are overlooked.
