TheOldCoach District 28-6A Preview

San Antonio East Central will look to hold off a tough challenge from Corpus Christi Carroll in a very balanced District 28-6A race. Check out our look at the district right here on THEOLDCOACH!

1. San Antonio East Central Hornets

2. Corpus Christi Carroll Tigers

3. Corpus Christi King Mustangs

4. Corpus Christi Ray Texans

5. San Antonio Southwest Dragons

6. South San Antonio Bearcats

With sixteen total starters back from a district co-champion squad East Central looks to be the clear favorite to win this always intriguing loop. The Hornets have a true star running the offense along with plenty of playmaking skill weapons. Carroll and King out of Corpus Christi will be formidable challengers, Carroll was the district co-champion and with their own 1-2 combo on offense they’ll be tough to stop. Some replacements need to be found on defense, but the Tigers have a solid group of young kids ready to fill in. The intrigue is with the final two playoff spots as King, Southwest and Ray all look fairly similar on paper. King went 8-3 a year ago but the vast majority of their offensive production has graduated, Southwest has a playmaker at running back but they lack depth and late in the season they tend to falter. Ray has a new HC which leaves some questions, but ten three year starters returning will give them the slight edge for the fourth and final playoff slot. South San also has a new HC as Louis James takes over.
