Rockwall Wraps Up District Title

The Rockwall Yellow Jackets rolled up 637 yards of offense in a 65-35 win over Tyler Lee as RHS wrapped up the District 11-6A title. Check out the game recap on THEOLDCOACH!

ROCKWALL - It was a complete and utter domination on Saturday as the Rockwall Yellow Jackets (6-3, 6-0) destroyed the Tyler Lee Red Raiders (4-5, 3-3) 65-35 at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium. The win for Rockwall clinched the outright District 11-6A title and a home playoff game for the ‘Jackets.

Rockwall’s offense was simply on fire, the ‘Jackets scored on their first nine drives as Rockwall built a 44-7 halftime lead, while racking up 637 total yards. The offensive numbers for Rockwall were staggering starting with QB Will Reed who was 18/23 passing for 273 yards and four touchdowns, while RB Caleb Broach ran for 125 yards and three touchdowns , Broach also had three receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Rockwall built a quick 14-0 lead behind an eight yard touchdown pass from Reed to Luke Termin and an eight yard run by Broach. Between scores, Rockwall’s defense got a turnover in the red zone as Tamba Juanah picked off Lee QB Zachary Hall. Hall would strike with his team down 14-0 as he ripped off a 75 yard touchdown run. Hall ended the day with over 400 yards of total offense and three touchdowns.

Rockwall would score the game’s next thirty points to turn the matchup into a rout, Cole Talley had a 71 yard catch and run from Reed and then Reed would add a seven yard touchdown run to make it 28-7. Broach would haul in a 23 yard touchdown pass to make it 35-7. After a holding call in the end zone gave Rockwall a safety to made it 37-7, Broach scored from thirteen yards out to end the first half onslaught at 44-7.

Tyler Lee would score twice to open the second half as Tyrec Grayson hauled in a 54 yard touchdown pass from Hall and Hall had an eight yard touchdown run after a recovered onside kick to make it 44-21 midway through the third quarter. Any hopes of a Tyler Lee miracle comeback (like they had in Week vs. Lufkin) were dashed as Cameron Crayton scored from 65 yards out on a pass from Reed to make it 51-21 and effectively end the competitive portion of the game,

Rockwall is set for the playoffs they will likely host Copperas Cove in the first round of the playoffs, Tyler Lee needs to beat Garland Naaman Forest next week and they need Sachse to knock off Rowlett in order to sneak into the postseason.
