TheOldCoach 3A DI Region II Outlook

THEOLDCOACH breaks down the race out in Region II in Class 3ADI!

3A DI Region II Top 25 Teams

2. Mineola

4. Sunnyvale

6. White Oak

9. Pottsboro

17. Grandview

Mineola, out of East Texas, has won back-to-back regional title the past two seasons.  There are others that could step up and make that difficult, including Sunnyvale and White Oak, which are both ranked inside the preseason top 10.  Don't sleep on the high powered offense that Grandview will be bringing over to the region.

5-3A

For a good portion of 2015, is appeared that Pottsboro was going to be the team to beat in the playoffs.  The Cardinals had dominated a majority of their regular season schedule and was at full steam heading into the playoffs.  The loss of QB Zane Prichett led to a surprising area round loss to White Oak, so replacing that production is going to be key in 2016.  Most of the same teams are coming back in the district with the addition of Howe, which was 10-2 last season.

6-3A

Sunnyvale, much like Brock, has not been playing football all that long.  However, the Raiders could be poised to break out and contend for a regional title in 2016.  One team that could potentially stop them is the Grandview Zebras.  Grandview was led by what most would consider the best talent in 3A last year in QB Zach Smith, which is now at Baylor.  If they can find another QB to lead the up tempo offense, points should still come in bunches.

7-3A

For the most part, Mineola is joining a whole new crop of teams in 7-3A this season.  What should not change is the fact that the Yellow Jacket should be the heavy favorites heading into the season.  The only concern would be the offensive line, where Mineola took their biggest hit to graduation.  The team to watch in this district will be Farmersville.  The Farmers had a rough go of it in 2015, but are traditionally much stronger.

8-3A

No Daingerfield?  After the string of state championships from 2008-2010, the Tigers have now moved down to division II.  Regardless, White Oak has proven themselves over the past two years to be one of the best out of East Texas.  Hughes Springs had an uncharacteristic season in 2015, but the Mustangs should fight for a playoff spot with the likes of Redwater, Sabine, Jefferson and New Boston.
