2A Dll Wink Wildcats vs Iraan Braves

The Wink Wildcats are in for a challenge Friday as they visit the undefeated Iraan Braves for their second week of district play. With a leader in QB Kenny Hrncir, the Wildcats are having a successful season sitting at a 5-2 record, one of those being a big win over Irion County (57-7) in their district opener last week. The Braves have yet to play a district opponent, but with RB Daryel Lozoya and QB Clayton Kent returning to carry the offense, they have yet to take a loss this season. Wink is in Iraan for a 7:30 pm kickoff Friday.

2A Dl Stratford Elks vs Panhandle Panthers

The Stratford Elks host the Panhandle Panthers on Friday for a game that could possibly decide the district champ. The Elks started off district last week with a 28-21 win over Sunray while relying on RBs Gage Brooks and Fernando Jacquez. The Panthers, with a leader in QB Layton Lamberson, went into district strong as well with a 20-0 shutout over Stinnett. Panhandle makes the trip to Stratford on Friday. The two kick off at 7 pm.

3A Dll Cisco Loboes vs Coleman Bluecats

The Cisco Loboes might meet their toughest opponent this season since their loss from Wall (18-19) as they take on the Coleman Bluecats this Friday. Being two of the most dominant 3As this year, it’s no surprise both teams easily won their district openers last week. The Loboes, led by experienced QB Kase Gayle, beat Dublin 67-14, and the Bluecats looking to signal caller Bryson Hammonds, took Bangs 22-6. Cisco travels to Coleman Friday to face the Bluecats at 7:30 pm.

4A Dl Stephenville Yellow Jackets vs Brownwood Lions

Memorial Stadium is one of the best places to be Friday night if you can find a seat as the Stephenville Yellow Jackets host the Brownwood Lions in one of the most well-known West Texas rivalries. Stephenville hasn’t played a district game yet. But with QB Easton Jones at the reigns, the Jackets show a 55-28 win over Graham on their record. Brownwood made some changes in the off season bringing in new Head Coach Kyle Maxfield. The Lions, led by RB Gaving Jefferson, took a 35-13 loss from Wylie last week in their district opener and hold a 2-4 record on the season, one of those being a 34-30 win over Graham. The Stephenville vs Brownwood rivalry continues Friday night in Stephenville at 7:30 pm.

5A Lubbock Cooper Pirates vs Abilene Cooper Cougars

The Coopers go head to head Friday as the Abilene Cooper Cougars road trip to face the Lubbock Cooper Pirates for their second week of district play. Both of these teams started off district on the right foot last week. The Cougars, with RB Devin Johnson and QB Austin Smith leading the way, took Lubbock Monterey 24-17. The Pirates with a win as well, dominated Lubbock High 38-7 with QB Jarret Doege propelling the offense. The Cooper Cougars take on the Cooper Pirates in Lubbock Friday at 7:30 pm.
