Top ranked Allen remains undefeated after a rare Thursday game

Texas High School Football Week Nine Thursday Night Scores

The state’s top ranked Class 6A team had little trouble on a rare Thursday night game as the Allen Eagles coasted to a 59-7 rout of McKinney High (4-4, 1-4). Allen (8-0, 5-0) remains undefeated on the season winning their 39th consecutive district game dating back to October of 2010.

Allen’s running attack was paced by junior running back Brock Sturges who ran for 71 yards on only four carries in the first half and finished with a game-high 83 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Sturges scored the Eagles’ first two touchdowns on runs of 53 and 2 yards. The 53-yard touchdown run was the first score of the game and came off an Eagles fake punt from Allen’s 47 yard line midway through the initial quarter. Sturges also ran for a three yard touchdown from a direct snap out of the Wildcat formation on the Eagles’ first possession of the second half.

The Eagles put up 460 total yards against the Lions with 270 on the ground scoring seven offensive touchdowns.

Allen's defensive front with seniors, Cole Maxwell and Cody Dillard, and sophomore Jayden Jernigan dominated McKinney's offensive line allowing linebackers Misi Tupou, Jace Waters, and Ryan Bishop to shut down the Lions' offensive attack.
