TOC Big Game of the Week
Euless Trinity (6-3) vs. Flower Mound Marcus (5-4)
This game will settle who gets the honor of making the playoffs and traveling to Allen face off against the No. 9 nationally rated Eagles next week.
The loser is out of the playoffs completely.
Not a scenario that either team likely pictured heading into the 2016 season, so the game is paramount, and the battle should be an old-school brand of high school football, focusing on solid rushing attacks and good defense.
Marcus is led on offense by sophomore running back Justin Dinka, who just recently picked up his first scholarship offer from SMU. The offensive line is pretty big and also features a 2019 prospect that was recently offered by SMU in left tackle Justin Osborne. Dinka has put up remarkable numbers in his first year for the Marauders, rushing already for 1,621 yards and 20 touchdowns.
To win the game Marcus will have to play tough defense and be effective with the quarterback run game, which has been the second option offensively behind Dinka.
Like Marcus, Trinity will rely heavily on the run. It features a pair of 1,000 yard rushers in junior Courage Keihn and senior Greg Garner. The Trojans offense will probably tell the tale of the game. In its three losses it has averaged just over 23 points per game, but in its six wins it has dominated the scoreboard by averaging 40.
The offensive line is always a strength of the team and 6-foot-2, 301-pound Manase Mose is a fierce one.
