With the win, before a sellout crowd, Carthage improves to 11-2 and will meet Stafford next week in the Region III finals at a site and time to be determined. Stafford defeated Bridge City 37-28.

Henderson finishes its season with an 11-2 record.

Keaontay Ingram scored on runs of 52-, 4-, 6- and 5-yards against the Lions, who won the regular-season district game between the East Texas rivals 36-28 eight weeks ago.

Henderson RB Lakendrick VanZandt led all rushers with 251 yards on 18 carries.

VanZandt, an early Big 12 commit to TCU, scored on runs of 12-, 89-, 43- and 36-yards. His final three touchdowns came in the second half as the Lions rallied from a 22-11 halftime deficit to take a momentary 31-30 lead in the fourth quarter.

Carthage is 38-5 in the playoffs under coach Scott Surratt. With this victory, Surratt improves to 6-3 in games against Henderson.

The Bulldogs defeated Stafford last year in the Area Playoffs 34-0.
