1A Dl Borden County Coyotes (Visitor) vs Happy Cowboys (Home)
The Happy Cowboys are in search of revenge this Saturday on the Borden County Coyotes who ended their season last year in the Quarterfinals. The Coyotes, led by RB Corbin Sumners and QB Hunter Jones, are coming off a 66-48 win over Garden City last week and show just one loss on the entire season from Calvert week 3. Happy might be their biggest test yet though. Looking to LB Carson Bryan and ATH Colton McCarley, the Cowboys are undefeated on the season and cruised past Knox City last week 62-14. The winner of this matchup will play either Jonesboro or Union Hill for the 1A Dl State Championship. Happy and Borden County meet in Levelland at Lobo Stadium for an early 3:00 pm kickoff Saturday.
3A Dll Sonora Broncos (Visitor) vs Canadian Wildcats (Home)
The Sonora Broncos and Canadian Wildcats meet in Lubbock Friday night. The Broncos, looking to signal caller Kaden Cordell, took the Regional Semis last week with a physical 40-36 win over Childress, who Canadian had a scare from in district play but beat 18-17. The Wildcats, led by WR Cameron Copley and LB Holton Hufstedler, had a close game as well last week defeating Coleman 21-19. With Sonora returning quite a bit of experience from their playoff team last season and Canadian being Canadian, it should be quite a game in Lubbock Friday night at Lowery Field 7:00 pm.
3A Dl Brock Eagles (Visitor) vs Wall Hawks (Home)
The Brock Eagles and Wall Hawks face off at Shotwell Stadium on Friday, a scenario that might sound familiar. The Eagles have taken the Hawks out of the playoffs the past two years, last year at the same Shotwell Stadium. The Eagles, looking to LB Zane Young and RB Tyler Gray, are undefeated on the season and coming off of a 48-19 Semifinal win over Muleshoe. The Hawks, with FB Tymber Carr and RB Thomas Halfmann, have taken just a few losses on the season due to playing a tough early schedule and defeated Littlefield last week 55-7 to earn their Semifinal title. Wall seeks retribution on Friday when they meet Brock at 7:30 pm in Abilene (P.E. Shotwell Stadium).
4A Dll Sweetwater Mustangs (Visitor) vs Seminole Indians (Home)
The Sweetwater Mustangs rematch the Seminole Indians in Midland this Friday. When these two met in district play, the Mustangs took the Indians 39-22, but the Indians have proved they like being the underdog this post season. The Mustangs, led by RB Jacoby Hunt and LB Hunter Mobley, defeated Glen Rose last week 44-14 and have been dominant all season long with just one loss from Monahans. The Indians, looking to QB Brett Hicks, are a little bit of a different story but they definitely shouldn’t be counted out just yet. Finishing fourth in their district, Seminole has only seemed to pick up steam going on to defeat Perryton, Iowa Park, and their own District 2 Champ Monahans last week (28-21). Sweetwater and Seminole kickoff in Midland on Friday at Grande Stadium 7:00 pm.
4A Dl Abilene Wylie Bulldogs (Visitor) vs Levelland Lobos (Home)
The Wylie Bulldogs and Levelland Lobos find each other yet again in the playoffs this Friday. The Bulldogs, with FB Cameron Hanna and LB Brooks Peppers, have knocked the Lobos out of the post season the past two years and are coming into this week strong after a 35-14 win over Argyle last Friday. The Lobos, led by one of the best signal callers in the state, Nick Gerber, shouldn’t be underestimated though with their high power offense that has controlled opponents all season. They defeated Andrews last week 53-22 to earn their Semifinal title. With Wylie’s relentless defense and Levelland’s potent offense, this matchup should be entertaining Friday at San Angelo Stadium 7:30 pm.
