Bremond can become one of the few programs in Texas high school football history to win three straight state titles and the Tigers bring a 46 game win streak into the title tilt. If the Tigers win the game, Roshauud Paul can finish his career at 47-0 as a starting quarterback.

Bremond is playing for its eighth state championship with the first state crown coming in 1981 when the Tigers beat Wink 12-7.

Iraan’s march to the state finals finds an emotional community grieving stemming from a bus crash after the team’s quarterfinal playoff victory on Dec. 2 killed a cheerleading sponsor and injured six cheerleaders that were on the bus.

Iraan's offensive attack is built around a triple option ground attack with running back Daryel Lozoya, rushing 13 times for 184 yards in the Braves' 42-21 state semifinal win over Wellington.

Both teams are spearheaded by strong defensive play with Bremond allowing only 11.8 points on a game and Iraan giving up 13 per game. Each team has posted two shutouts.
