Forney ISD announces North Forney opening

The Forney ISD Athletic Director Neal Weaver announced that Lance Gary has stepped down as the head football coach and campus athletic coordinator for the North Forney High Falcons.

Gary ended his tenure with the Falcons after five seasons with a record of 13-47 and guided the Falcon’s transition from 3A to 4A, which is now considered 5A, during the 2012-13 school year.

North Forney was Gary’s second head coaching position when he was hired in 2012 replacing James Brown who went to Mansfield Timberview.

Gary came from Gainesville after two seasons as the Leopard’s head coach and spent two years as the defensive coordinator under former head coach Ricky Lock, who Gary replaced when Lock returned to the Gonzales Independent School District.

Gary was previously was an assistant football coach and head baseball coach at both Brownsboro and Jacksonville before coming to Gainesville in 2008.

Weaver expected the position to be posted this week and the district will begin seeking a replacement immediately.
