Make That Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium

Believed to be the largest naming rights contract in the history of high school sports, the Tyler Independent School District has agreed to rename historic Rose Stadium to Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

The Tyler school board voted unanimously last month for the 12-year agreement with Trinity Mother Frances Health System that will pay the school district $1.92 million.

In the agreement, Trinity Mother Frances Health System will donate the money to pay for upgrading the legendary facility's infrastructure and to provide seminars and other health related services to educate the district's students, staff and community.

Upgrades at the stadium should be completed in time for a new kickoff classic at the venue August 26-28. The classic will involve eight teams from the region, elsewhere in the state and perhaps even out-of-state.

The agreement runs through July 31, 2016, and the buyer has the right to renew the agreement for another 10 years.
