Connor has posted over 2000 yards rushing the past two seasons and has been named first team all-district two seasons in a row. As a junior Michael earned first team all-area honors as named by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and was honorable mention all-state. The Frenship running back boasts impressive measurables including a 280 pound bench press, a 500 pound squat and a 38 inch vertical leap. Besides starring on the gridiron, Connor is also a member of the FHS track team.
"My confidence, vision, agility and ability to catch the ball out of the backfield," replied Connor when asked about his strengths. Connor put those receiving skills on display in a tough third round playoff win over Everman, as he posted a long touchdown reception.
Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Michigan, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas have all shown significant interest in one of the top backs in all of West Texas. Connor however likes Texas Tech, "I've always been a Tech fan, they are close to home so it's a natural fit."
Last summer Michael kept busy playing seven on seven for FHS as the Tigers advanced to the state tournament at Texas A&M University last year. Connor who likely will attend camps at Oklahoma and TCU says he'll keep busy this summer by trying to get his Tigers back to the state tournament this July. The running back from Wolfforth says he'd like to major in Music when he gets to college.
Don't expect a decision from Connor until after his senior season with the way things stand. "I'd like to win a state title this year, we've gotten close the past two years. Personally I'd like to get 2500 total yards and over 30 touchdowns."
