Stepping Stones: Max Jenkins

Houston Langham Creek QB Max Jenkins will look to improve on a solid junior season where he threw for 1911 yards and 18 touchdowns which earned him honorable mention all-district honors as a junior.

Jenkins who will be entering his third year as a starter for the Lobos, stands in at 6'1 195 pounds and he has a 4.67 forty yard dash time. Max also boasts a 240 pounds and a squat max of 375 pounds, he also has a 30 inch vertical leap and a 4.24 shuttle time.

Besides being a key member of the Langham Creek football team, Max is also a catcher for the LCHS baseball squad. When asked to discuss his strengths and weaknesses Max replied, "I am a play-maker when I am out on the field, and I am a big time competitor every time I am out there I will lay it all out there. This off-season I want to get faster and work on my arm strength."

Houston, Texas A&M, Rice, SMU, Army, Louisiana Tech and TCU are all in the mix to land the Langham Creek QB.

Last summer Jenkins split time between summer baseball, and seven on seven football along with attending camps at Texas A&M and Rice. Max led Langham Creek to their second consecutive trip to the seven on seven state tournament and this year he'll look to make it three in a row.

Max also will attend the Elite 11 camp. Max says academics will play a role in where he lands, and he's definitely looking for the school that will be the best fit. "I'd like to major in the business field," replied Jenkins when asked about a possible major. However, the Langham Creek QB is unsure as to a timetable on his final decision. "Next year I'd like to help get us into the playoffs, we were one game short last year. I want to get over the hump my senior year, personally I'd like to get 2000 passing yards and 1000 rushing yards."
