After a meteoric rise up the recruiting lists this off-season, the QB from Irving gave a verbal commitment to Coach Gary Patterson and the TCU Horned Frogs.
The 6'2 185 lb QB has started at the Varsity level since his freshman season when he was the trigger man at Arlington Grace Prep, Gallegos boasts a strong arm and excellent speed as he runs a 4.57 forty yard dash. The QB from Irving also has a 260 pound bench press, a 310 pound squat max and a 29 inch vertical leap.
Besides being the QB for the Tigers football squad, Yogi (whose real name is Chase) is a member of the IHS basketball and baseball teams.
"My biggest asset is my vision, I see the field well, I've got good arm strength and I am versatile," commented Gallegos when asked about his strengths, Yogi says this off-season his main focus will be on getting faster and stronger.
Last summer, Yogi impressed at SMU's mini-camp and this summer look for him to not only lead Irving's seven on seven team but he'll also attend Baylor's mini-camp and he'll head to Louisiana to attend Peyton Manning's Passing Camp.
Gallegos says academics and campus atmosphere will play key roles in deciding where he will land for his college days. "My goal next year is to get Irving back to the playoffs, personally I would like to throw for over 20 touchdown passes and make all-area."
