The 5'10 ½ 161 pound CB boasts 4.5 speed and a 270 pound bench press. Powell who also has a shuttle time of 3.97 seconds also has a 31 inch vertical leap and squats 350 pounds.
Powell who will be a three year starter for the Patriots has earned first team all-district honors in back to back seasons, as a junior the Lakeview Centennial CB posted 92 tackles and eight pass breakups along with 2 sacks. Besides starring on the gridiron Corrigan is also a contributor for the LCHS track team as well.
Florida, Iowa, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M and Kansas all have shown interest in Powell, but Corrigan says right now he has no favorites. "I don't have any offers but I think Kansas is close to offering me."
Powell has had a great off-season impressing at scout.com's combine in New Orleans, and he plans on making more of an impact this summer playing 7 on 7. "I think my main strength is my ability to be out on an island and cover the other team's best receiver one on one," said Powell when asked to describe his biggest strength. Corrigan says this summer the main focus for him will be getting faster and stronger and improving his footwork.
"I want to help the team get to the playoffs this year, it's been a while since Lakeview made the playoffs and I would like to break that streak. Personally this season I'd like to make all-state and get 100 tackles."
