Stepping Stones: Darius Busby

After an impressive junior season Everman LB Darius Busby will be looking to increase his stock even more with a big senior year.

The 5'11 200 pound LB with sub 4.7 speed in the forty posted 95 tackles which earned him honorable mention all 8-4A honors helping the Bulldogs to a 9-4 record and a trip to the Class 4A Regional Semi-Finals.

Busby bench presses 285 pounds and squats 425 pounds has lettered for EHS since his sophomore season and started all 13 games for the "Dawgs as a junior. Darius besides playing a key role for the Everman football team is also an Outfielder for the Everman baseball team.

"My biggest strength is that I am always around the ball, I am a playmaker. This off-season I want to really work on my speed and become a better leader on the defensive side of the ball," replied Busby when asked about his strengths and weaknesses.

At this time, the Everman LB has received interest from Texas State and Colorado but with a big off-season look for Busby's stock to continue to rise. Darius lists academics, a chance to earn playing time and campus atmosphere as main factors in determining where he lands.

Everman has lost in the third round of the playoffs three straight seasons and Darius says getting over that hump is important in 2007, "I want to help the team get past the third round and make a run at a state championship this season."
