Shinkle who is 6'1 195 boasts excellent speed running the forty in 4.57 seconds, along with a 315 pound bench press and a 435 squat max. "My biggest strength is my lateral movement along with my vision. I also am very physical," replied the Hebron LB who states this off-season his main focus will be on getting faster and stronger.
Garrett who boasts an offer from Air Force is also getting big interest from Nebraska, SMU and New Mexico State. "I'm visiting Air Force in two weeks so I think I'll get a good idea of where they stand after the visit," said Shinkle.
Last summer Garrett kept busy playing 7 on 7 for Hebron as the Hawks did advance to the 7 on 7 state tournament at Texas A&M University. This summer Shinkle again plans on trying to lead the Hawks to state and he plans on attending camps at SMU, Houston and Texas State University.
"I am going to choose a school that has an atmosphere that I feel comfortable at, I want to feel good about the people at the school. Academics will obviously be important since football won't last forever," replied the future history major.
Shinkle says he is a very unselfish player and individual accolades though nice don't push him, "I want to help the team win, personal goals they are nice but I'd much rather win a state title."
