Stepping Stones: Jerry Bell

Corpus Christi Ray QB Jerry Bell will be looking to duplicate a stellar junior season after he helped lead the Texans to an 8-3 record in 2006.

The 6'2 201 pound QB earned Offensive MVP honors in the Greater Corpus Christi area throwing for 2798 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Ball who is entering his second season as the starter for Ray High, is also a member of the Texans baseball team where he plays pitcher and outfield.

"I think my arm strength and my good decision making are my twp biggest strengths. This off-season I am really focused on improving my speed and mobility," replied Bell when asked about strengths and weaknesses.

Bell who also excels in the classroom has several strong academic schools looking at him to play QB including; Rice, Vanderbilt, Purdue, SMU and TCU.

Look for Jerry this summer in camps at Rice and Vanderbilt and he'll try and lead the Texans to the 7 on 7 State Tournament this July at Texas A&M University.

"Academics will be key for me, I also want to play in offense that really fits my game," said the QB from Corpus Christi. Don't look for any decisions until after the 2007 from Bell however.

Jerry says he'd like to lead Ray High to an unbeaten regular season and a long playoff run in 2007. "Individual stats don't mean much to me, I just want to help the team win."
