There are many, many imposters out there in the vast world of Texas Internet High School Coverage. However there is one place and one place only you'll get this kind of coverage for 7 on 7 and you are right here! The best part about the coverage it's FREE!!!

Pool A

Elysian Fields

Royse City

This pool on paper appears to be absolutely loaded, Prosper leads things off. The Eagles are led by WR/TE Taylor Thompson who at 6'6 will cause some big time match-up problems for a lot of defensive backs. Prosper doesn't have much SQT experience but I do think with the athletes they have they'll be solid. Elysian Fields has the best QB in the tournament in Tim Curry and the Yellow Jackets have cut their teeth against some tough East Texas competition this summer including playing in last week's Big School SQT at Tyler Lee. Much like Elysian Fields, Royse City has played against some excellent big school competition including a strong showing at the Rockwall SQT where the Bulldogs played Tyler Lee and Plano East tough and blew Class 5A Garland Naaman Forest away. QB Richard Morrison has some great weapons at his disposal in WR Bert Boudreaux and Carlos Gallegos. Class 1A state champion Alto rounds out this beast of a pool, the Yellow Jackets will have some big time speed and athletes at their disposal but a lack of depth especially against the two larger 3A schools in this pool could be their undoing. I'll go with Royse City, as they have the most impressive group of athletes and the most depth in the pool.

Little Matt's Pick: Royse City

Pool B

West Rusk

West Rusk leads this pool off, the Raiders are a relative unknown when it comes to 7 on 7. The Raiders top player is QB Matt Morton, his favorite target will be WR Braylon Williams. Chilton the other Class 1A state champion in the field was unable to advance out of pool play last week at Texas State, the Pirates will count on some youth this year and 7 on 7 gives them some much needed experience after graduating a great senior class. I don't see CHS making much noise in this year in 7 on 7 but they'll be a team to watch in the small school division in years to come, keep an eye on RB Javan Landrum. Troup who advanced to the state tournament in 2005, is always a competitive 7 on 7 squad. WR Reginald Wade at 6'3 210 pounds will provide the Tiger QB a big target. Athens managed to advance to the semi-finals at the Tyler Lee SQT last year and the Hornets are usually a solid 7 on 7 group. RB Dhe'Ryan Jackson will have to carry a heavy load with the graduation of some solid receivers. I think the pool will come down to Troup and Athens and I'll take THS in a toss up type game.

Little Matt's Pick: Troup

Pool C

The big name in this pool without question is Canton, the Eagles have long been a strong 7 on 7 squad advancing to the Sttae Tournament the past two years. QB Casey Bell is back but he'll have some young skill kids to throw the ball to, CHS will have to play well if they want to get to their third straight State Tournament as this will be their only chance to qualify. It wasn't too long ago Sabine hosted their own SQT, those days are gone but the Cardinals will look to advance to their first ever State Tournament. SHS doesn't have a lot of skill talent and that won't bode well in this SQT or during the season. Oakwood has an experienced team back, but they are a relative 7 on 7 unknown. The Panthers top players are QB Geral Williams and RB Mike Savage. Beckville has long been a power and they have a knack for producing big time backs, but can they do it in 7 on 7. They certainly have the QB to do it as QB Seth Hubbard has a big arm and is a good decision maker and RB/DB T.J. Adams has big time speed and is game breaker. Canton is the favorite in the pool, but they had better not overlook Beckville!!

Little Matt's Pick: Canton

Pool D

White Oak

Eastland will make the long trip east, for those of you not up on your geography Eastland is not in East Texas. In fact its considered more West Texas as Eastland is located about 100 miles west of Fort Worth. The Mavericks had a solid showing at the Brownwood SQT last week posting a win over Class 4A Buda Hays but they lost to San Antonio Clark and Brownwood in blowouts. Mabank was a heavy favorite to qualify two weeks ago at the Arlington Bowie Small School SQT led by QB Kolton Browning, but they failed to advance. I think the Panthers should take care of business this week. White Oak is led by sophomore QB Austin Tubbs who had a solid freshman season, the Roughnecks are a bit of a sleeper as if Tubbs gets hot he could lead WOHS to the State Tournament. Bullard hasn't been a big player on the 7 on 7 scene, however the Panthers have some good athletes and they can't be overlooked in a pretty balanced pool. Overall, despite the balance in this pool I'll take Mabank as I think they have the top QB in the pool.

Little Matt's Pick: Mabank
