As coach John Campbell heads into his first season at Katy Taylor, the cupboard was not bare as he returns 11 starters from a squad that went 6-5 last year and made postseason play. Of those top return players, more than half of them are in the skilled positions.

The Mustangs' offensive strength begins up front with offensive linemen Michael Bergman and Ryan Evans. Both Bergman and Evans were All-District in 2006. Quarterback Travis Martin will take the snaps this season.

In the backfield, the Mustangs have plenty of backs capable of getting the job done. Cullen Pabody who scored six touchdowns and gained nearly 400 yards leads this position. Seniors Blake Martin, Marchellcus Martin, and Taylor Denson will also see some action.

Treyvon Jackson will handle the fullback duties while wide out Phillip Supernaw is the likely primary receiver. Supernaw scored three receiving touchdowns as a junior.

Five starters return on defense that includes linebackers Chad Theis and Matt Finney. On the defensive line, Randle Cole returns up front. Defensive backs Parker Stevens and Rodney Mouton lead the group.

Jonathan Larsen and Brandon Colondres will also start in the secondary. Mouton will also be the Mustangs punter.
